Company "B", 50th Regiment Georgia Infantry
"Ware Volunteers"
GIDDENS, John M. - Private May 7, 1862. Sent to Savannah, Ga. hospital June 1862. Sent to Convalescent Camp near Whitesville, Ga. July 17, 1862. Roll for Dec. 1864, beards remark: "Supposed to be dead."
Mass grave. Lost to history.
Suggested edit: The 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment trained at Camp Davis near Guyton, GA, which is near Rincon, GA. Guyton was once known as Whitesville. As a sick soldier at Camp Davis, John Giddens would have been sent to nearby Whitesville, aka Guyton, not all the way west across the state to the Whitesville near Columbus, GA. He must be buried around Guyton, GA.
