Bettie (Bateman) Nicholson, died on March 7, 2018. She was born on June 25, 1922, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Blackstone and Zulieka J. Bateman and lived in Guthrie until her senior year in high school, when they moved to Edmond. She graduated from Edmond High School and attended Central State College (now UCO). She was a long-time member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Edmond, where she served in many capacities over the years, including organist, treasurer, vestry member, choir member and for several years enjoyed meeting and welcoming newcomers to the church. She was a member of Chapter D, P.E.O.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harris Bateman (Tulsa, OK) and Frank Bateman (Santa Fe, NM); and two sisters, Mary Ruth Clouse (Albuquerque, NM) and Imogene Werner (Emporia, KS). She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Nicholson and Jane Nicholson, both of Mustang, OK; one son, John D. Nicholson and wife Jill of Chicago, IL; two grandsons, John D. (Trip) Nicholson III and wife Maribeth of Nashville, TN, and Jeffery Nicholson of Dallas, TX; as well as two great grandsons, J.D. Nicholson and Levi Nicholson. Services will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Edmond, on Tuesday, March 13th at 6:00 pm under the direction of Crawford Family Funeral Service, Edmond. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church Choir Fund or the charity of your choice.
