Imogene Lill Werner, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 92.
Mrs. Lill Werner was a business teacher in St. John and Hudson and helped her husband, Frank Lill, operate the St. John Daily Capital, the Larned Chronicle and the Emporia Times.
The daughter of Blackstone and Zuleika Hanson Bateman, she was born Sept. 28, 1915, at Guthrie, Okla. She graduated from Central State College in Edmond, Okla.
She married Frank Lill on Aug. 22, 1937. He died in 1967. She married Guy C. Sickler and moved to Sarasota, Fla., in 1975. In 1993, she married John B. Werner, who died in 1998. She returned to Emporia in 2002 and lived at the Manor.
Mrs. Werner was a member of the First Christian Church and Christian Women's Fellowship. She also was a member of Beauceant and a 50-year lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sons, Don W. Lill of Emporia and Frank R. Lill of Laupaehoehoe, Hawaii; one daughter, Mary Ann Bocquin of Green River, Wyo.; one sister, Bettie B. Nicholson of Edmond, Okla.; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Harris Bateman and Frank Bateman; and two sisters, Mary Ruth Clouse and Camille Lois Bateman, died earlier.
The memorial service will be held at a later date.
