Christian, his wife Christiana, and their five children, immigrated to the United States arriving in New York on July 24, 1871 aboard the ship Deutschland. They settled in Allegheny County, Pa.

Their children were:
1. Louis H. "L.H." Koethe, born Sept 3, 1849 in Gross Thurow, Germany.

2. Frank. H. Koethe, born about 1858 in Gross Thurow Germany.

3. Karl Charles F. Koethe, born 1859 in Gross Thurow, Germany.

4. John Hermann "Herman" Koethe, born 1862 in Gross Thurow, Germany.

5. Emilie Koethe, born November 1864 in Gross Thurow, germany.
