Mrs. Mary Meier, 91, of 1006 Vandalia street, Collinsville, died of complications Saturday at 10:30 p.m. Death occurred at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. William Kirchhoff, with whom she made her home.
She was born Sept. 23, 1861, in Madison county, the daughter of the late Diterich and Anna Bertels. She was married to Fred Meier, Sr., in the Lutheran church at Dorsey, who preceded her in death Jan. 25, 1921. After her marriage they lived three years at Dorsey, moved to near Troy until about nine years ago then moved to Collinsville.
She is survived by two sons, Fred and John Meier of Troy; two daughters, Mrs. William Kirchhoff and Mrs. William Bohland, both of Collinsville; one brother, William Bertels of Dorsey; two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. One daughter Mrs. Anna Langreder, preceded her in death March 24, 1943.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church at Troy.
The body may be viewed at the Edwards funeral home in Troy after 7 p.m. Monday until 2 p.m. Wednesday when the services will be held at the funeral home. The Rev. Fred Beversdof will officiate.
Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery at Pleasant Ridge.
