The first wife of Bishop Rudolph Dubs, they met when he accepted one of his first ministerial charges as pastor of the Evangelical Church at Grandview, Iowa of which Elizabeth’s family were members.

Married in Louisa County, Iowa on 04 Jun 1861, by late 1868 they had removed to Cleveland, Ohio.

Elizabeth appears on the 1870 and 1880 censuses at Cleveland with her husband and children. On the 1870 census, Edwin--the youngest child listed--was incorrectly recorded as "Rudolph" Dubs. On the 1880 census, her husband was incorrectly recorded as "Ralph Dobbs," under which surname the entire family was enumerated.

Elizabeth's known children were: Charles Newton, Rudolph S. ‘Ralph’, Edwin A., Lillie Amelia, Alfred C., Jesse James, Alford Wabnitz Dubs, and possibly Eva Dubs*.

Elizabeth died at the family residence, 55 Beech Street, from complications of childbirth.

Her husband was appointed Administrator of her estate at Cleveland on 25 Jun 1886 and named her surviving children as Charles N., Ralph, Edwin A., Jesse James, and Alford W. Dubs.

Bishop Dubs next married Amanda Elizabeth, daughter of Rev. Martin J. and Elizabeth Carothers, by whom he had additional family. Elizabeth's sons Jesse and Alford were enumerated with their father and stepmother at Chicago on the 1900 census.

(*Eva only appears on the 1870 census which indicates her born in Ohio about 1868, and so cannot be Lillie Amelia. No record of Eva's birth, death, or burial could be found. It's possible she may have been the daughter of Bishop Dubs' brother Jacob Dubs, or of another family member who was mistakenly recorded under the surname Dubs.)
