Sequim resident Harold Orval Kautz died of cancer in Port Angeles at age 90.
He was born in Hayfield Minnesota, to Fred Carl and Mary (Stave) Kautz. He married Lula Marie Millard in Cannon Falls, Minn., on Sept. 23, 1936. She died in 1985.
Mr. Kautz was a Merchant Marine, serving as a oiler and junior engineer, from 1944 to 1957. From 1946 until 1992, he lived in Port Angeles, where he was a 12-year share holder with Peninsula Plywood. In his younger years, Mr. Kautz was an avid golfer. He belonged to the American Legion, Eagles and Elks.
Survivors include daughter Joyce Tatom of Springfield, Ore.; brother Floyd Kautz of Port Angeles, Robert Kautz of Henderson, Nev., and Frederick Kautz of Cannon Falls, Minn., sisters Dorothy Sele of Port Angeles, Mildred Sauer of Boise, Idaho, Viola Roy of St. Paul Minn.,and Joan Raines of Moose Lake, Minn.; two grandchildren three great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, brothers Ralph Kautz and Leonard Kautz preceded him in death.
Services: Private graveside service will be held under the direction of Sequim Valley Funeral.
