CAROFF – George Francis, 83, Salix, died February 27, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center. Born November 19, 1934, in Dunlo, son of James Joseph and Letitia Mae Caroff.

Preceded in death by parents; in-laws, Charles and Emma Merritt; brothers, James Allen and Dr. Romuald Joseph Caroff.

Survived by wife of 53 years, Carol; children, George Jr. and wife Cheryl and Rebecca, wife of John Wirfel; grandchildren, Sean Wirfel, Lynn wife of Frank Wood, Jared, Christopher, Jenna, and Madison Caroff; sisters, Theresa Caroff and Sarah McElfresh, and brothers, William Caroff and wife Mary Kathryn, and Attorney Gilbert Caroff and wife Julia Anne. Also survived by sisters-in-law Barbara Caroff, Betty Caroff, Dorthy Veale, and Maurice Merritt, and 37 nieces and nephews.

George was a graduate of St. Francis University and the University of Pittsburgh earning a Master's Degree in Education. Retired teacher from the Forest Hills School District. He was an US Army veteran having served in Post War Korea. George was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork, member of Knights of Columbus Council 2275; 4th Degree member of Prince Gallitzin Assembly Council 0919, Loretto; and Beaverdale American Legion Post 460.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., where Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary at 3 p.m. and vigil will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, South Fork, Fr. Joseph Nale, celebrant. Committal, Corpus Christi Cemetery, Dunlo.

The family wishes to thank the palliative care nurses and staff at Memorial Medical Center for their compassion and care.
