Milton Robert Hillabold was born in Syracuse, Indiana, October 26, 1853 and died May 4, 1927 at the age of seventy-three years, six months and eight days. At the age of twelve he was confirmed and baptized. To this faith he remained loyal until his death. On May 11, 1876 he was married to Ida Griffith of Warsaw, Indiana and together they traveled life's pathway for nearly fifty-one years. To this union were born seven children, three of them preceeding their father in death; one a baby girl, Ruby; two boys, Earl Forrest, five years and Eddie Martin, eight years. He leaves to mourn his death; his wife, Ida Hillabold, and four children, Charles, Ruth, Esther and Grover all of Stafford; two brothers, Charles and Lyman Hillabold, both of Los Angeles, California and a host of friends. He came to Sterling, Kansas in 1882 and six months later arrived in Stafford. He started a Jewelers repair shop shortly after coming to Stafford, and follwed his trade diligently until the day of his death. As the rose quietly dispells its fragrance on the air, so was your true and honest life. As the rose, though withered and departed continues its fragrance, so your life shall continue its inspiration, and will be revered in loving memory by those who knew you in all the days to come. Jno 25:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend" was the text for the funeral sermon, delivered by Rev. A.H. Moore at the Baptist church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Burial was made in the Stafford cemetery.
