Mrs. Jane Russell died at her home Thursday morning April 15th at one o’clock. The funeral services were held in the evening at the Presbyterian church by Brother Roberts. Mrs. Russell was born in western Tennessee, the 15th of September, 1839 and was married to Eli T. Strickland in Searcy county, Arkansas 1858. To this union were born two boys, John W. Strickland of western Canada and S. W. Strickland of Polk County, Missouri. Her first husband died in the Civil War and in the spring of 1864, she was married to W. R. Russell. To this union were born four children, three boys and one girl. Mattie E. Mayfield of Millerton, Okla,, E. N. Russell of Baker, Idaho; G. T. Russell, who now resides seven miles southwest of Ozark and E. B. Russell who is still living on the old home place. She has twelve grand children, seven dead and five living. She was a member of the Christian church for about forty-five years. She was a devoted, Christian, industrious and kind mother ever ready to lend a helping hand to the distresses. She is gone to rest, but Jesus said,:I go to prepare a place for you and that where I am, there ye shall be also.”
