Veteran of the American Revolution. He was one of the last verifiable and oldest survivors of the conflict, at the time of his death at 106 years. Cook was also one of eleven select few survivors to have his documented image preserved through photographic means. In 1775 at the age of sixteen, he enlisted in the Continental Army, and served as a Private in the 2nd Continental Light Dragoons Connecticut Regiment. He fought at Brandywine, and Yorktown, against Cornwallis, and was present at his surrender in 1781. He was also wounded several times. On June 12, 1784, he received an Honorable Discharge signed by George Washington.
