Rose Goodroad, 95, of Brookings, passed away peacefully Friday, February 16, 2018 at The Neighborhood’s at Brookview, in Brookings. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am until the time of the service.

Rose TeGantvoort was born May 20, 1922 to Henry and Ragna TeGantvoort in Clear Lake, S.D. She attended school in Hidewood Hills, in Deuel County. She was united in marriage to Arnold Goodroad on January 11th,1940 in Clear Lake and were married for 51 years. They lived and farmed near Estelline from 1940 to 1970 and then moved to Brookings. Arnold passed in March of 1991. In December of 1992, Rose was joined in marriage to Richard Ted Greenfield. After 11 years of marriage, Ted passed away in October of 2004.

After working on their family farm for 30 years and moving to Brookings, Rose was employed at Hillcrest Elementary and the Brookings Hospital for the next 20 years. Rose was a lifelong member of Ascension Lutheran Church where she held many positions. She enjoyed being on her bowling team, square dancing club, gardening, cooking, baking, going to Nick’s Hamburger Shop, have her potato pancakes at Perkins, spending time at the senior center and attending her grandchildren’s activities.

Rose enjoyed extensive travel trips, both in the states and abroad with Arnold, Ted and with her daughters. Her appreciation for the beautiful flowers wherever she went were her long-lasting memories.

Grateful for sharing her life are her daughters, Geraldine (C.J.) Aune, Hendricks, M.N.; Donna (Don) Klapprodt, Brookings, S.D.; Marjean (Gary) Nolan, Rancho Mirage, C.A.; Karla (Michael) Griffith, Nipoma, C.A.; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Herbie (Evelyn) TeGantvoort, Las Vegas, N.V.; Orvie (Arlene) TeGantvoort, Apple Valley, M.N.; Earl (Vickie) TeGantvoort, Carson City, N.V.

In addition to husbands, Arnold and Ted, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Stella and Glenna, 7 brothers, Harvey, Melvin, Phil, Victor, Ted, Charles and one infant brother, Howard.
