Dale was born to W.R. Book and Grace (Gahart) Book at Memorial Hospital on October 22, 1928. He passed away at Memorial Hospital on March 29, 2007, with his loving family at his bedside. He attended Kemper Military Academy; at Falcon High School he was deemed The One Man Track Team, once winning the gold medal in every event held at a single event. He was a member of Liberty Lodge #134 in Littleton, CO., a Charter Member of the Little Britches Rodeo Association, had been a member of Soil Savers, and a member of the Colorado Cattlemen's Association. He was also the owner of several trucking companies. He married Dorothy J. Moreland in 1947. His parents, one brother: Monty Gahart, one daughter: Brenda Gale, and one grandson: Casey Weagel, preceded him in death. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy; four daughters: Pat (Al) Correll, Robin Hollingsworth, Susan Sonju, Tracy (Wayne) Mohler, and one son; Blair M. Book; Six grandchildren; Tori (Correll) & Tony Horling, Tyler (Correll) & Jeremy Heberer, Deke & Jamie Hollingsworth (Houch), Mandy Hollingsworth, Erin (Sonju) & Josh Fach, and Katie Sonju; Five great-grandchildren; Andi, Landon, Levi, Gabriel, Andrew and one expected in July. Three sisters: Bettye Thieman, Nancy Turner & Sheila Ellison, and five brothers: Jim, Curt, Keith, Larry, and Ron Book also survive. A Celebration of his life will be held at the Advantage-Chapel of Memories at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 5th, 2007. Graveside Service to follow at 4:00 PM, at the Simla, Colorado Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to: The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International.
