Thomas was born in Oneonta, Blount Co, AL to Elias R. and Serena Elizabeth Cornelius Bynum. They were in Henderson Co, TX by 1900. Elias and Serena are buried in Moorehead/Melton Cemetery in Henderson County. Thomas died in Woodville, Tyler Co, TX and is buried beside his wife, Winnie Argen Sammons Bynum, who he married 24 February 1920 in Anderson Co, TX.

OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Friday, 2 February 1973:

T. C. Bynum, 84, of 612 N. Tennessee Avenue, died at 7 p.m. Thursday in a Woodville hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel with Joe Gay and Holton George officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories at Elkhart. The body will be at Hassell & Foster until chapel rites.

Pallbearers will be Gary Parker, Cecil West, Bill Holder, John Gaydon, Ted Missildine and Don Bell.

Mr. Bynum was born September 15, 1888 in Oneonta, Ala., to Elias Bynum and Mrs. Elizabeth Cornelius Bynum. Before moving to Palestine in 1958, he lived near Elkhart (Broom City), where he engaged in farming prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Queen & Debard Church of Christ. During World War I, he served in the U.S. Army from July 23, 1918 until Jan. 29, 1919 and rendered overseas duty in France.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Winnie Sammons Bynum of Palestine; one son, Roy Wayne Bynum of Palestine; one daughter, Miss Evelyn Bynum of Palestine; two sisters, Mrs. S.J. (Ada) Best of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mrs. William (Ester) Graham of Dallas and several nieces and nephews.
