In Alfred, N. Y., Sept., 26th, 1873, Lois M. Hull, aged 26 years, 3 months, and 22 days. She was baptized by Eld. Wardner, and joined the 2d Alfred Church, and lived a Christ-like life. About three years ago, by an accidental fall, she bruised the bones of her knee, and since then has been the greatest sufferer, and at the same time the most patient, gentle Christian I ever knew. Through the personal exertions of Mr. C. H. Merkt, she was admitted into St. Luke's Hospital, New York City, where she received kind care and their best treatment. For more than a year she has been in the New York Institution for Cripples, where her sweet disposition and patience in suffering won many friends, and all seemed to love Luie, as they called her. Through the skill of Dr. Knight and the attending physicians, she gradually recovered the use of her limb, till she could again walk. But just then a difficulty in her side, which had been coming on for years, developed into an internal abscess, and after months of intensest suffering, her prayer was granted, that she might come home; and here she sweetly and peacefully fell asleep in Jesus, just as the quiet hours of the Sabbath were coming on.
