He and his wife founded Clear Spring Church of God, now known as Mt. Calvary Church of God, in 1951, where he served as pastor for 50 years. He was employed by the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association for 25 years. He was a member and co-founder of Clear Spring Ambulance Club and was a former board member of Washington County Social Services. He was the former owner of Regal Fence Co. and the owner of Colonial Sales in Mercersburg, Pa., for 33 years. Upon his retirement, he did daily hospital and nursing home visitations in the Tri-State area.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mae A. Timmons; one son, Robert E. Timmons Jr. of Mercersburg; one sister, Myrtle Pallman of Arizona; one brother, Glen Timmons of Gettysburg, Pa.; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Bessie Bringman, Viola Harnish, Ruth Goshorn and Helen Brickholder.
Services were held at Mt. Calvary Church of God, Clear Spring. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Williamsport. Arrangements by Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Clear Spring.
