Rex Bennett, 86, a resident of Harrison, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Chip Andrus officiating. Inurnment will be at the columbarium there.

Rex was born Dec. 15, 1922, at Amarillo, Texas, a son of Guy Bennett, Sr. and Elzie (Jenkins) Bennett. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Harrison where he served as a deacon and elder. He was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass Company in Kansas City where he worked for 33 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Merchant Marines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Pebble Jean (Beckham) Bennett; two sons and their wives, Rex Bennett, Jr. and Kay and David Bruce Bennett and Donna; grandchildren, Mark Bennett, Greg Bennett, Jeremy Bennett, Connor Bennett, Steve Lyon and Carrie Renfroe; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Guy Bennett, Jr.; brothers-in-law and their wives, John and Dottie Beckham and Berry and Thelma Beckham; a sister-in-law, Pauline Ramsey; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 220 North Arbor Drive, Harrison, Ark. 72601.
