KARL M. PARKER ... retired minister, Karl M. Parker, 73, of Fort Worth, died Tuesday in a Dallas hospital. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in South Hills Christian Church.
Parker was a retired minister of the Christian Church. He was named president of the Convention of Christian Churches of Texas in 1960. From 1961 to 1967, he served as executive director of the Council of Churches in Greater Houston. A graduate of Brite Divinity School. Parker, was awarded an honorary doctorate of divinity degree from Texas Christian University in 1960.
He received his undergraduate degree from TCU in 1930 and served as a minister in Houston for 23 years. During his career, he served as pastor at Rockwood Christian Church, Riverside Christian Church and Hemphill Community Christian Church in Fort Worth.
Survivors include his wife, Frances, of Fort Worth; three sons, Karl Parker of Houston, Nick Parker of Arlington and Don Parker of Fort Worth; his daughter, Virginia Pinkston of Elsa: two brothers, Darwin Parker of El Paso and James Parker of Houston: a sister, Jeannie Williamson of Glendale, California: 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent to the Karl and Frances Parker Ministerial Education Fund at Brite Divinity School.
