Frieda M. Hickey, age 94, of Rome, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2019.
She was born February 8, 1925, in Rome, a daughter of the late William and Frieda Bowers. Frieda was united in marriage to William B. Hickey, Jr, on May 13, 1944, a blessed marriage of 71 years; he died May 17, 2015.
Frieda loved the many years of boating, water skiing and picnics with family and friends at the Rome Outboard Motorboat Club on Lake Delta. She also was an avid stock car racing fan.
Frieda is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Robert Yauger of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Bonnie Hickey of Rome; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Joe Nasci, and Kelley and Christopher Lee; great-grandchildren, Bryan Yauger, Colton and Adella Lee. She was predeceased by sisters and brothers, Katherine Hoffmeister, John Bowers, Evelyn Horn, Emma Marsh, Elizabeth Ernst, Margaret Murphy and Paul Bowers.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 7 p.m., at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m., prior to the funeral service.
