Mrs. Carter died March 23, 2007, in Fort Worth.
She was born Oct. 15, 1913, in Palestine and attended Tucker schools. She was a homemaker and member of Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by four sisters and eight brothers.
Survivors include sons, Ruby, Roy, George Carter, all of Palestine, Author Mack Carter, California, and Etha Carter, Fort Worth; daughters, Verdia Fields, Ada Willis and Verline Thomas, all of Fort Worth, and Lois Bell, Gilmer; sister, Mattie Gross; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great- grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Sons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
