Robert L. Beauchot, 91, of Monroeville, passed away at 6:25 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at his residence.
He was born on Friday, October 1, 1926 in Allen County, Indiana to Clarence L. and Elizabeth C. (Westrick) Beauchot. Bob was united in marriage to Kathryn J. Brouwer on February 9, 1971 in Fort Wayne and she survives.
Bob was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville.
He retired in 1988 from Phelps Dodge after 36 years of service. After his retirement, Bob became a greeter at Sam’s Club in Fort Wayne for five years.
Bob was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II in the Philippine Theater of Operations.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a big poker player and also played other card games. He was an avid reader and also loved to bowl.
Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathryn Beauchot of Monroeville; son, Steven L. Beauchot of Jackson, MI; daughter, Julie K. Beauchot of Highland Village, TX; daughter, Christine E. Smith of Fort Wayne, IN; two brothers, Joseph Beauchot and Gene (Jane) Beauchot, both of Monroeville, IN; five grandchildren, Adam Beauchot, Berkeley Beauchot, Gabriel Beauchot, Joshua Smith, and Jacob Smith; and two step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Mattice and Stephen Mattice.
He was preceded in death by seven sisters, Kayte Grabner, Carolyn Blauvelt, Theresa Beauchot, Sharon Wenger and three others in infancy; three brothers, Clarence Beauchot and James Beauchot and one in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville with Father Lourdino Fernandes officiating. Burial will follow services at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville where the Holy Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family would request memorials be given to the St. Rose Building Fund or the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
