There is also a Sarkis born about 1844 who was the son of Mamas (born about 1804) whose father's name was Tavit, and this Sarkis had a brother Hagop (born 1860).
It is also possible Sarkis was born in the years after this census, though at least in some cases those later births were written into the census.
Whichever Sarkis this is, he is believed to have had a sister Surmalou Basmajian Fereshetian, as Surmalou's children and Sarkis's son called each other first cousins. Sarkis's wife was Vartouhi Ipekjian and she was presumably the mother of all his children, though they were born over a large period of time. The first two children were a daughter Annakhas (1869-1900) and son Dikran (1870-1895). There is a ten years gap before the next child was born if these years are accurate, which might indicate either a first wife that died (though there is no indication this is the case) or perhaps children who died in infancy might have been born during the following period. A family tree gives the next child as Bilbil (1880-1940s/50s?), then Haroutune (1882-1959), and finally Yeghisapet (1885-1896). Sarkis was known as "Gabod Sarkis", meaning "blue Sarkis" in the Arapkir dialect, due to his blue eyes. He was a traveling merchant and a large man, that when he sat on a horse its middle would go down. Unlike him, his wife was short and dark. They died just a week apart, each on a Monday, of typhoid in 1892 or around it. While the location of his burial cannot be confirmed, it is said that the Armenian Apostolic Christians of Arapkir of the time used the area around the Sourp Asdvadzadzin Cathedral for burial, and some stones can be found among the ruins dated to the period of his death, so he is listed as being there as an assumption.
