Ann Hazlitt, 82, of McCook, formerly of Selden, Kan., passed away on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, surrounded by her family at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Ann was born on April 29, 1935, in Litchfield, Neb., to Bill and Viola (Bramer) Roelle. She grew up on the family farm in Peetz, Colo and graduated from Peetz High School. On April 3, 1953, she married Robert L. Hazlitt of Sidney, Neb., and to this union four sons were born.

She worked as a bookkeeper at a local car dealership in Sidney for many years. After moving to Selden, she enjoyed volunteering at the library, playing the piano at the Methodist Church, helping in the lunch room at the school, and working with the senior citizen group. She was a member of the Seldon Methodist Church and Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook.

Ann had a huge heart, both figuratively and literally. She was always willing to volunteer and cared deeply for her entire family. She had a passion for water skiing with her sons and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with family around her kitchen table until late at night and getting up early the next morning to fix the family her “belly sinker” pancakes. She enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband to visit family and friends, including trips to Alaska and Hawaii. Ann always loved a good joke.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, of McCook; sons Lonnie Hazlitt (Andrea) of Lake Jackson, Tex., Monte Hazlitt (Mary) of McCook, Harry Hazlitt (Sherry) of Linden, North Carolina, and Robert L. Hazlitt, Jr. (Georgette) of Wellington, Colo.; sisters Willa Roelle of Akron, Colo., and Trudy Fuller of Maricopa, Ariz.; brother Carl Roelle (Linda) of Peetz, Colo.; sisters-in-law Gladys Bedford, Darlene Hazlitt, and Vicky Mapel; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Memorial services are 2:00 pm on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook with Kenneth Hazlitt officiating.

Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
