David was the son of Thomas Hamby and Easter Brooks Hamby. He was their seventh child of ten.

David was the brother to: Simon, Lemuel, Isaac, Kesiah, Delilah, Jonothan S., Elizabeth, Emeline T. and Thomas Jasper Hamby.

David married Olive Daniell on September 17, 1833 in Athens, Clarke County, Georgia. Source is Clarke County Marriage Book B, Page 253.

They had the following children: Benajah "Benjamin" Judson, Micajah Leonard, Robert Thomas Hamby, Virgil A. Stewart, Tandy Kay, David Marcellus, Roxy(Rosa)Connelly Hamby, Peatus Theodore, Olive Adilida Augusta Hamby and Emerinda Talulah "Lula" Hamby Daniell.


On the 1840 Federal Census - Cobb County, Georgia: there are 2 males under 15 years; 1 male under 30; and 1 female under 30. David would be the male under 30.
On July 17, 1841 in the Will of Olive's father, there is a bequest of $200 to David Hamby for his daughter Olive.
We find the family on the 1850 Federal Census in Walton County, Georgia.

On the 1870 Federal Census we find Olive and son Thordore are living in Cobb County, Georgia.
On December 9, 1871 there is a Deed in Cobb County, Georgia, selling land in Book C, pg. 245.
And again in September of 1879 there is a Deed in Cobb County, Georgia, selling land in Book F, pg. 448.
