Jim, age 84, passed away at North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, Missouri. He was the son of Jay and Marie (Brodd) Bell. He graduated from Wichita North High School in 1950 and served in the US Navy from 1953 to 1957. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He received his Master's Degree in Mathematics from Central Michigan University. He married Dolores Siever on March 18, 1967, at RLDS Chapel in Independence, Missouri.

Survivors include his wife and his sisters, Marilyn Sachen and Lois Vorderbruegge.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services were held at the Wayside Christian Church in Wayside, Kansas, with burial following at Fawn Creek Cemetery in Tyro, Kansas.
