Mrs. Claborn was born on Tuesday, 07 July 1857, to Elijah Coffey and Rebecca Shockley Coffey, in Grainger County, Tennessee. She was the seventh of nine children born to this union.

She was united in marriage to William Tanner Claborn around 1875. Mr. Claborn survives Martha. They were married about 27 years. To their union were born eight children: son James Willis Claborn, son Otho Marvin Claborn, son Chester Lee Claborn, daughter Antha Ermon Claborn, daughter Cora Ermon Claborn, son Johnny Piercy Claborn, son Elic Ezra Claborn, and son Homer Frank Claborn.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, brother Austin Alexander Coffey, and brother Lacy Coffey.

She is survived by her husband, son James Willis Claborn, son Otho Marvin Claborn, son Chester Lee Claborn, daughter Antha Ermon Claborn Basham Kahn, daughter Cora Ermon Claborn Jones, son Johnny Piercy Claborn, son Elic Ezra Claborn, and son Homer Frank Claborn, brother George W Coffey, brother Ambrose M Coffee, brother Samuel Coffey, and brother Elijah Coffey, Jr.

Interment occurred at Elm Cemetery of Okra, Eastland County, Texas.
