NOTE: The following is a handwritten obituary that I found tucked inside his funeral folder. Some of the words were a little hard to decipher, but I tried to keep it as close to as it was written, as possible.

"Obituary of Gerhard B. Ewert

Mr Ewert was born Nov 22, 1880, in Marian County, Kansas. He was the son of David D. Ewert and Helena Brown.

In 1884, his father preceded him in death. In 1885, his mother married Jacob Goddert* of Buhler, Kansas. There he was educated and grew into manhood.

June the 4th, 1900, in confession of his sin and in the faith of Jesus Christ, he was baptized in the Hoffnungsau Church by Elder Dituch (sp?) at Buhler, Kansas.

On January 27, 1904, he was united in hold matrimony to Katerine Wipf with whom he shared his joys and sorrows for 28 years 5 month and 14 days.

From 1904 to 1907, they made their home at Buhler, Kansas, and from there they moved to Hooker, Okla., where he lived with his family until his death.

On May 27, 1907, he united with The Bethlehem Church at Turpin, Okla., and which he was a faithful member until his death.

He was father of 7 children, 6 daughters and 1 son. One daughter in infancy preceded him in death.

He was a cheerful man and always ready to lend a helping hand, which won him many, many friends.

In June, he became seriously ill and with the doctor's aid, he partly regained his health. Saturday, August 13, he went to the doctor for aid and while in the doctor's office he passed away at 6:30p.m.

He leaves to mourn his early death his beloved wife, 6 children, Irene, Hilda, Erma, Helen, Warren and Juanita, 2 brothers and 1 sister, 2 half brothers and 1 half sister and a host of relatives and friends."

*The correct spelling of his name is Jacob H Gaeddert
