Dorothy Elizabeth Brunton was born in Miami, Okla. She was 87 years old when she passed on at a Guadalupe Valley Nursing Center in Seguin, Texas, on Monday, June 7, 2010. Dorothy was a member of the Delaware Indian Nation, Lenni Lenape. During the Dust Bowl, her family moved from Oklahoma to California, Dorothy worked making uniforms for the World War II war effort, while living in Los Angeles. She played guitar and sang. She met her husband Glen Brunton because their parents were neighbors in Bakersfield, Calif.
She was a homemaker and a Christian. Later in life, Glen's young brother, Earl, asked her to marry him after his wife, La Vaughn, passed years before. This was a very good union for both, providing need companionship. In Midland, Texas, she helped at the senior center she and Earl used to attend. When Earl passed, she moved to Seguin, Texas to live with her daughter's family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Brunton, who passed in 1981, and by her second husband, Earl Brunton, who passed in 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Blackwell and Nancy Zeigler; sisters Lottery Blackwell, Crissie Mae Davis and Sylvia Ann Morris; brothers Roy L. Blackwell and Thomas Edward Blackwell; step-son from Glen's first marriage Merlyn Chase (Butch) Brunton; Earl's daughter Carolyn L. Collie and Dorothy's oldest grandchild, Amber Dawn Clements.
She is survived by step-son Glen's Estle Eugene (Bud) Brunton; son William Dale Brunton and wife Melinda and their daughters Rachel Johnston, Sarah Hancock and Amy Brunton; daughter Patsy Ann Poschman, her husband Dan and sons Erick S. Clements, his wife Shannah, and Nicholas D. Clements; daughter of Glen's son Merlyn, Robin D. Brunton and her son, Nathan Burroughs; Earl's son Terry V. Brunton and his wife Margaret.
We would like to thank Dorothy Brunton's doctors, the staff of GVNC and Hope Hospice for their attentiveness and care. Even though it is your job, we are aware of the love and compassion all of you give of yourselves, especially those giving direct care.
