Ornageburg - Milton J. Jeffords, Jr., 62, cotton merchant of Orangeburg, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon on the golf course at Pinehurst, N.C. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday from the First Presbyterian Church by Dr. W. McLeod Frampton, Jr. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Jeffoard was born at Orangeburg, son of the late Milton K. Jeffords, Sr., and Mattie Salley Jeffords. He was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Orangeburg County Club, the Elks, and a former member of the Lions Club. He was a graduate of The Citadel, class of 1919, and was an official in the United States Golf Association, the Southern Golf Association, the Carolina Golf Association and a former official in the South Carolina Golf Association. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Frances Earle Jeffords of Orangeburg; one daughter, Mrs. Robert E. (Carol) Cannon of Atlanta, Ga.; one son, Milton K. Jeffords, III, of Orangeburg; three brothers, T. T. Jeffords and Julian M. Jeffords of Orangeburg and Will R. Jeffords of Boston, Mass.; and four grandsons, and an only aunt, Mrs. Archie Barron, Sr., of Manning. © The State, Columbia, SC, 4 Dec 1960
