Other survivors include his children - Susan (Mark Carman) Murphy of Greensburg, Dawn (Brian) Schwering of Greensburg, Dennis (Christine) Murphy Jr. of Oldenburg, Scott (Debbie) McCorkle of Janesville, WI and Matthew Murphy of Greensburg; two sisters Ellen (Danny) Terrell and Joyce (Larry) Dove; sister-in-law Jackie Murphy; and 14 grandchildren – Bailey, Jessica, Anna, Emily, Cassidy, Ellen, Alex, Kasey, Chloe, Erin, MacKenzie, Addison, Max and Garrett. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Stanley Murphy.
Dennis proudly served in the U.S. Army, serving in South Korea at the end of the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years as a Sales Representative for Wonder Bread until his retirement in 1997. Dennis was an avid sports fan, rooting for most any Indiana sports team, but he especially loved the Cincinnati Reds.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 1PM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the South Park Cemetery with Rev. John Meyer officiating. There will be an Irish Wake at the American Legion Hall beginning at 3PM on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of Decatur County.
