William Lee Newman, ''Bill'', of Damascus passed from this life on December 18, 2017. He was born March 02, 1925 in Clinton, Arkansas to the late Fred Newman and Leona Fay Fox Newman. He served in the United States Army at the beginning of his life, putting his country before himself as he went to Korea to serve. Bill was a man that learned many things over his lifetime, including years spent in the medical field, a machinist and he worked many years for Boeing formerly Douglas Aircraft. Bill was a long-time member of the South Side Baptist Church, and of the Doric Masonic Lodge in Damascus, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Kathy Jones, a grandson Jamie Griffin, one sister, as well as four brothers.
Bill is survived by his wife Helen (Wolfe) Newman of forty-seven years, a daughter, Brenda Clapper of Tulsa, OK and four sons; Michael Newman of Chimes, AR John (Susan) Walker of Damascus, AR, Robert Walker of Waterloo, NY and Thomas (Sherrie) Walker of Damascus, AR. He left behind two sisters; Annie Anderson of Ozark, MO, Audrey Fay Fox of Fayetteville, AR, and three brothers Willie Clell Newman of Owasso, OK, Herman Newman of Terlton, OK Alfred Newman of Chimes, AR, sixteen grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren as well as a host of friends and neighbors.
The visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 6-8PM at Roller-McNutt in Clinton, AR. Funeral will be at the South Side Baptist Church on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 1 PM with graveside following at Trace Ridge in Chimes, AR.
