Orval Wayne Egner, 76, passed away April 8, 2017, with his family by his side. Wayne was born in Enid, OK, on June 18, 1940, to Orval E. Egner and Fern I. Egner. Wayne moved with his family to Kansas City, MO, in 1952. A graduate of Westport High School. After high school he married Judith F. Latham on July 5, 1960, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in KCMO. In 1965, Wayne embarked on an illustrious career in the food service industry as a kitchen layout and designer for restaurants, hotels and various commercial institutions, a career that spanned nearly 50 years. He was also known as the "Silver Fox" to those that worked with him in the local KC industry. Wayne started his career working for Greenwood's Inc. in 1965. While at Greenwood's, Wayne worked on several prominent projects including Smaks, Italian Gardens, Imperial Palace, Putsch's Cafeteria and Coffee Houses, Plaza III, Coach's Bar & Grill, the Alameda Plaza and Muehlebach hotels. In 1980, he started his own company in the KC stockyards area, "Wayne's Restaurant & Hotel Supply". One of his first clients was Stanford & Sons restaurant near the Country Club Plaza. From 1985 to 2014, Wayne also worked for other notable food service/refrigeration dealers in KC area including Pospisil, Graziano and Associates, Larson Binkley and B & J Peerless Food Service. After losing his wife Judy to cancer in 2002, Wayne later married Rita on March 5, 2011. Wayne enjoyed fishing, hunting, coaching little league baseball and working on hot rods. He was preceded in death by his parents, his late wife, Judith F. Egner and sister, Iris Dean Snow of Long Beach, CA.
