Margaret Harris Tyson, 86, of Norwood died peacefully surrounded by her loving family Monday, December 11, 2017 at Trinity Place.
Funeral services will be hold at 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Norwood First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Julie Hill will officiate and burial will follow in Norwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church fellowship hall.
Margaret was born January 25, 1931 in Mecklenburg County to the late Malvern Palmer and Martha Morgan Harris. She was a 1948 graduate of Norwood High School and a lifelong member of Norwood First Presbyterian Church. She was truly a people person and enjoyed her many years as owner and operator of the Thrifty Center in Norwood where she enjoyed spending time with and greeting all her customers and friends with her smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband Blease Tyson, her daughter Kathy Tyson Murphy, two brothers Palmer and Charles Harris and two sister Jane Boles and Michelle Holt.
She is survived by her children Sonny Tyson and wife Kaye, Theresa Tyson Russell and husband Jeff and Meg Tyson Bowers and husband David all of Norwood, ten grandchildren, Kelly Bowers (Matt), Devin Murphy, Tara Ballard (Brandon), Tiffany Jones (Eric), Mitchell Russell (Meredith), Magen Smith (Matthew) Ben Abernathy (Kimberly, Chris Bowers (Rebecca), Brian Bowers (Emily) and Crystal Roberson (Kirby), seventeen great-grandchildren, Cidney, Ryker, Lakelee, Kaitlyn, Ashelyn, Sunni, Blake, Stella, Sadie, Emerson, Tyson, Cora, Millie, Chaise, Layla, Eddie, Summer.
