Bud was born, November 9, 1932, in Adair County, Oklahoma, to William Riley and Zip Ora Smith. Bud was a retired Forester and a Christian by faith. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War. Bud was a frequent rodeo contestant winner in several Colorado rodeos. He won Eagle County Colorado roping champ in 1962. Bud worked on the VII ranch in Eagle, Colorado, for several years and for various other ranches in Colorado before moving back to Oklahoma to ranch. He then drove a truck for several years before becoming a Forester with Davis Timber working for them for over thirty five years, before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; three sisters;
wife, Clara Mae Burnett; daughter, Anita Gonzales; and grandson, Josef Dittrich.
He is survived by his daughter, Rita Dittrich and husband Joe of Evergreen, Colorado; step son, Rocky Cantrell of Weber Falls, Oklahoma; brother, Leon "Chub" and wife Grace of Stillwell, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Shari Lee Campbell-Boots and husband John of Thornton, Colorado; and a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives
Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, August 29, 2020 in the Hanner Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Donald Sheffield officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, prior to the service.
Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Miller County, Arkansas.
