Mamie was of a robust constitution, and her sickness, the result of a cold, dates back but about three months. It was assumed a dropsical form and soon her case was hopeless. Mamie attended St. Mary's schools and was very proficient in her studied. Mamie was buried on a Tuesday morning, two days after her brother Daniel Sullivan. Both died from consumption. A large attendance of schoolmates attended Mamie's service at St. John's Church. Her grave was literally covered with flowers. (MD, 7-17-1884)
