Also surviving are two nephews, Kim (Jan) Alexander and Matt (Sandra) Alexander; two nieces, Lona (George) Sipka and Ronda (John) Adkins; and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; James and Richard Alexander.
Jerry helped his dad run the milk route in Delavan as a young boy and Alexander's Club Grill on Locust Street in Delavan. He graduated from Delavan High School and then joined the Delavan Army Guard, where he then served in the Korean War. He graduated from SIU at Carbondale and went to New York to train for IBM. Returning from New York, he worked for 32 years in Chicago in management. While working for IBM Jerry served 15 years with the Arm Reserves. He later joined the United States Air Force, where he was commander of the Air Force Refueling Wing and retired after 17 years of service with the Air Force Reserves as Lieutenant Colonel.
He was a member of the Delavan Masonic Lodge for 50 years, a member of the Delavan Methodist Church and a member of the Delavan American Legion Post #382, where he served as past commander and on the color guard.
He enjoyed photography, hunting, computers, electronics, business management, and had a love for all animals. After retiring Jerry enjoyed helping Phil Weyhrich on the farm.
His funeral will be at 2:00 pm Friday December 15, 2017 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan. Pastor Gene Ramsey will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sand Prairie Cemetery in Green Valley.
