PROFESSOR FRANK CASSARETTO
Mass for Frank P. Cassaretto, 80, professor emeritus of chemistry at Loyola University, will be at 6 p.m. Tueday in the Madonna Delia Strada Chapel of Loyola University, 6526 N. Sheridan Rd. Mr. Cassaretto, of Evanston, died Sunday in his home.
Mr. Cassaretto joined the university staff in 1930 and taught chemistry at the Lake Shore campus for 38 years. A 1930 graduate of Loyola University, Mr. Cassaretto received a master's degree from the University of Chicago in 1939 and a doctorate from Loyala in 1948. He served as an instructor in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He had served as chairman of the educational department in the Chicago section of the American Chemical Society. The Frank P. Cassaretto medal, created in his honor after his retirement in 1972, is presented each year to a Loyala University undergraduate for excellence in chemistry and service to the chemistry department.
He is survived by his wife Agnes; three daughters, Mary Simon, Toni Perille and Gemma Hegarty; 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
