Henry Knickerbacker, who died Thursday night [10 Jun] in New York was 64 years old. He was born in Schaghticoke [Rensselear Co., NY], and was a graduate of Williams College. His ancestors were among the original Dutch settlers in Albany. His entire business career was in Wall Street. He had been a member of the New York Stock Exchange since May 8, 18xx.

Comment: On the death of his father-in-law Senator Isaiah Blood of Bloodville, a hamlet adjacent north of Ballston Spa in 1870, Henry took over Isaiah’s Axe and Scythe factory which employed about 350, but left the daily operation to others while he remained in New York City. Henry was also a director of the Ballston Spa National Bank.
