Mrs. Magdalen M. Schwartz, 76, Topeka, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1989 at a local hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Schwartz worked for Zercher Photo Inc., from 1951 until her retirement in 1974.

She was born Dec. 7, 1913, the daughter of John and Apollonia Hefner Artzer in Topeka.

Mrs. Schwartz was a member of the Church of the Assumption and had lived all her life in Topeka.

She was married to Paul F. Schwartz on May 15, 1934. He died Feb. 1, 1985.

Survivors include three daughters, Dolores Hartner of Kansas City, Kan., and Rosemary Purvis and Patricia Chapman, both of Topeka; two sisters, Florence Myers of Sacramento, Calif., and Marie Domme of Glendora, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Assumption with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Schwartz will lie in state at the Brennan Funeral Home from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
