Chicago -- Mrs. Caroline Dietz, 81, Chicago, formerly of Topeka, died Wednesday, Jan. 18. at a Chicago hospital. She was born March 10, 1902 at Topeka, the daughter John and Appolina Hefner Artzer.

She was married to John Diez Jan. 17, 1922, at Topeka. He died in 1975.

She also was preceded in death by three sons, John Dietz Jr., Danny Dietz and Tom Dietz.

Survivors include three daughters, Viola Dietz and Mrs. Dorothy Bushell, both of Chicago, and Mrs. Jeannette Morris in Oregon; a son, Jim Dietz, Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Madelain Schwartz, Topeka, Mrs. Florence Myers, Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Marie Domme, Glendora, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Veronica's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Elmhurst, Ill. Mrs. Dietz will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Hollerbach Funeral Home, Chicago.
