(LHD7-VB9) Sarah married James Leeper on 15JUN1813 in Hopkins County, KY. She was the daughter of Judith Ann Shumate (1770-1821) and Henry Ashby (1745-1817). Judith was the daughter of Sarah Ann James (b.1734, d.FEB1841 in Fauquier County, Warrenton, VA) and Daniel Shumate (1747-1806). PER Matthew Fish: Daniel Shumate was descended from French Huguenots, who came to the States by way of Martinique. Henry was the son of Thomas Henry Ashby (1714-1786) and Elizabeth “Betty” McCullough.
