Services for John B. Shalz, 81, of 2108 North Twentieth, Boise, who died Sunday in a Boise hospital of a long illness, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Cloverdale Chapel. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn section of Cloverdale Memorial Park.
Born March 17, 1890, in Browns, Iowa, he grew up in Kansas and lived in Butte, Mont., for 20 years. He worked in the mines. On Nov. 27, 1921, he married Mary Prather at Dillon, Mont. The family came to Boise in 1943 where Mr. Shalz had lived since. A World War I veteran of Marine Corps service, he worked at St. Luke's Hospital and was a member of the American Legion for 46 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mary, and three sons, Bernard L., John B., and Jack B. Shalz, all of Boise; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Michael of Waterloo, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Barbara Woolman of Hemet, Calif., Mrs. Katherine Wallis of Alhambra, Calif., Mrs. George Liles of Montrose, Calif.. and Mrs. Elizabeth Boah of Wichita, Kan.
