Jerry Deen White, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 23, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 71.

Jerry was born in Clarendon, Texas, on June 22, 1946, to proud parents, Margaret Eva (Deen) White and John Robert White.

He graduated from Floydada High School in 1965 and immediately joined the United States Air Force. After serving for four years he moved to Wellington, Kansas and worked for Atchison Topeka Santa Fe railroad before attending Wichita State University and attaining a Bachelor of Arts degree. Accounting was his profession, working for Beechcraft, then Raytheon, and finally retiring from Raytheon Beech after 30 + years.

Jerry married Jo Jean Haggard of Wellington in 1971, and they had one son born on April 1, 1981.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Raymond White, Billy “Bill” White of Amarillo, TX., Robert “Bob” White of Lake Dallas, TX., and brother-in-law Kenneth Kendrick of Wellington.

He is survived by his son, John Jacob “Jake” White (Emily) currently residing in Marietta, GA., three sisters and three brothers; John Edwin White (Billie Jean) of Idalou, TX., Mary Annette Barcheers of Abernathy, TX., Doug White (Billie) of Schertz, TX., Dennis White (Elaine) of Plainview, TX., Joyce Reese, and Doris Kendrick of Wellington; many cousins, 31 nieces and nephews, as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Jerry enjoyed reading and watching films. He was an engaging conversationalist and could find humor in any situation. He had many friends and will be sorely missed by all who had the fortune of knowing him.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration Service of Jerry’s life and a luncheon on Saturday, December 2nd at 10:30 a.m. Pastor James Byers of the Wellington First Christian Church will officiate over the Celebration.
The Celebration will be held at the North Oak Tree (1177 east 16th), Wellington.
