OSCAR BUCKLEY BADLY CRUSHED IN MINE
Pana, Dec. 23--Pana people were greatly shocked to hear on Tuesday of the sudden death of Oscar Buckley, son of Mrs. Susan Buckley of this city, who died following an accident at Nokomis Mine No. 10 of the Illinois and Indiana Coal company.
Mr. Buckley, a former Pana boy, has worked with this company for many years. In some manner he was caught between two cars and crushed, being hurt internally. Mr. Buckley was engaged in taking care of cars that were filled with coal ready for shipment.
At the inquest held in Hillsboro Tuesday the verdict of accidental death was returned.
The deceased was the son of the late Zach Buckley and Mrs. Susan Buckley of Pana. He was born Aug 23, 1876, and was forty-nine years of age. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Susan Buckley, his wife and the following brothers and sisters: Andrew, Frank, Charles of Pana; Clyde Buckley of Springfield, Ill., and Miss Lily Buckley of this city.
The funeral services will be at the Steble (sp?) Chapel in Nokomis on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Ohlman Cemetery.--Decatur Daily Review, December 23, 1925.
Oscar Buckley's wife was Mary Elizabeth Pearse, daughter of William and Elizabeth Ellinger Pearse.
