Lilliard “Little Boy” Hilliard, 82, of Stanley, died on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017.
He was born on Nov. 22, 1934, in Stanley and was a son of the late Joseph Hilliard and Mabel Tressie Turner Hilliard.
Mr. Hilliard owned and operated Hilliard’s Barber Shop in Stanley and was a member of the Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren.
On Feb. 10, 1953, he married JoAnn Maye Hilliard, who died on Jan. 29, 2013.
He is survived by a daughter, Dawn Knighton and husband Timmy of Stanley; a son, Ronnie Hilliard of Stanley; a sister, Joyce Ann Comer of Stanley; two brothers, Williard “Big Boy” Hilliard of Stanley, and William Paul Hilliard of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; three granddaughters, Brandy Strickler and husband Chris of Stanley, Whitney Cunningham and husband Jeremy of Broadway, and Mariah Gray and husband Taylor of Washington; four great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Gunnar Strickler of Stanley, and Kara and Cole Cunningham of Broadway; and his mother-in-law, Sarah Goode of Stanley.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Adolph “Dockie,” Buddy Carlton and Layton Hilliard; and a sister, Marie Stoneberger.
A funeral service was conducted on Monday, Oct. 9, at the Leake’s Chapel Church of Brethren by the Rev. James Kite, Pastor Keith W. Simmons and Pastor Charles Turner. Burial was in the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
