Esther M. (Drummonds) Evans, age 83 of Monroe, died at 1:07 a.m. Tuesday at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. She had been in declining health for three years.

Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. B.J. McDaniel, Pastor of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church, and her son, Rev. Randy Drummonds, will officiate. Burial will follow at Rath Cemetery, Monroe.

Born March 21, 1934 in Tazewell, Tennessee, Esther was the daughter of the late Andy and Flora (Russell) Miracle. She married Ernie Drummonds on February 16, 1953 in Morristown, Tennessee. Together they raised five children. After his passing on August 25, 1993, Esther married Herbert Evans on March 28, 1997 in Claiborne County, Tennessee.

In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, Esther worked for 11 years as a cook for MCOP Head Start program at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Ida. She was also known as a cook and waitress for many years at the former Coffee Cup Restaurant in Dundee.

Esther was a member of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, gardening, canning vegetables from her garden, and cooking biscuits and gravy for her family.

Esther is survived by two sons, Ronald (Eldora) Drummonds of Romulus and Rev. Randell (Dianna) Drummonds of Monroe; a daughter, Reda (Dale) Biniecki of Maybee; step-children, Richard (Angie) Evans and Christine (Larry) England, both of Speedwell, Tennessee; brother, Carson (Janet) Miracle of Winchester, Kentucky; two sisters, Oma West of Monroe and Elaine (George) DeBusk of Tazewell, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren: Dennis, Josh, Travis, Steven, Nathan, Jennifer H., Tammy, Wanda, Brian, Jennifer W., Angela, Jaye, Hannah, Cord, and Shayne; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Esther was also preceded in death by a son, Rickey Drummonds; daughter, Reba Smith; grandson, Richard Drummonds; six brothers and two sisters.
