Daughter of Martin Luther Whitaker of Holton, Ripley County, Indiana and Kittie Lillie Blanche Amsberry of Pella, Marion County, Iowa.

Wife of John Gustave Hodgson of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois; married on 04 June 1922 in Bayard, Morrill County, Nebraska.

"Mamie E. Hodgson, 74, of 1407 8th Avenue died at a local rest home Thursday.
She was born February 2, 1896 at Omaha and moved to Sioux County with her parents as a child where they homesteaded. She was raised in Kenton, Nebraska before moving to Scottsbluff with her parents in 1913. She was employed by the Platte Valley Telephone Company as one of the first operators.
She married John Hodgson, June 4, 1922 at Bayard, after which they moved to their present address in Scottsbluff. She was a member of the First Christian Church and an original member of the First Christian Church Choir, Pioneer Birthday Club, Friendship Club and served as secretary of the Scottsbluff Garden Club.
Survivors include two daughters; Mrs. James (Ruth) Noonan of Riverton, Wyoming and Mrs. Robert (Janice) Carpenter of Scottsbluff; one son; Harold of Cypress, California; two brothers, Howard Whitaker of Scottsbluff and Clifford Whitaker of Greeley, Colorado; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Francis Bruce officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Dugan Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements."
