He was born in Murray, Utah on August 20, 1939 to Giovanni and Aurelia Leoncini. He married the love of his life Judy Fae Green on May 17, 1959 in Elko, Nevada.

He spent 31 years as a lineman for Utah Power and Light, Wasatch Electric, LE Meyers, and Sturgeon Electric.

He retired from Utah Power and Light in 1997. After retirement Johnny and Judy traveled the country for the next twenty years. He loved the outdoors, boating, waterskiing, and was an avid fisherman.

He was also a passionate bowler and an angry golfer. His laughter would fill a room, his whistle would carry for all to hear, and his love was endless for his family, friends, and those who he served throughout his lifetime. He is survived by his loving wife Judy, sister Alta Leoncini Potter, children Steven (Tona), Teresa (David) Holmes, Carl (Becky), Angie (Craig) Christison, and Karla (Jeff) White.
