Marie Imogene Oxley, 82, of Charleston died early Sunday morning, March 18, 2007, in Oakridge Nursing Center after a short illness. She was a former member of Silas Gospel Tabernacle Church, Tuppers Creek. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Clarence Oxley; daughter, Lylia Fields; grandson , Wayne Carpenter; four brothers and two sisters. Surviving are her son, Gary Lee Oxley of Hurricane; daughters, Donna Thaxton and fiance, David Garten, who was a very special person to Mom, and Norma Carpenter, all of Charleston; sisters; Arbutus Jones and Lola Thaxton of Tuppers Creek, Janet Price of Florida, Irene Saunders of Virginia and Maxine Jones of Ohio; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren The family would like to thank the the staff at Oakridge Nursing Center for the wonderful care of our mother
, and a special thank you goes to Virgie Garten, , whom she considered her sister.
Funeral service will b 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Alex Lopez officiating. Burial will be in Jenkins Cemetery.
