Raymond Bassetti, 83, formerly of West Deer died at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Landmark Manor, Hampton. He was born Feb. 14, 1922 in Russellton. An Army veteran of World War II, he saw two years of foreign service. He was a coal miner for 44 years, working at the Russellton mine of Republic Steel. Mr. Bassetti was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and the American Legion. He enjoyed roller skating, dancing and repairing and restoring automobiles. Survivors include a daughter, Carol A. Bassetti of East Deer; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlo and Maria Virgili Bassetti.


Relatives and friends are being received Monday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the PAUL R. AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 921 Freeport Road, Creighton, where a blessing service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer. Military honors will be accorded by the 99th Regional Support Command, Coraopolis.
